Orthodontics patients worldwide have acknowledged the huge advantages they get from an Invisalign treatment. Invisalign are comfortable, clear, and removable aligners that let you go through your daily activities without discomfort while correcting your misaligned or crooked teeth. They are also very effective as compared to traditional braces and can straighten your teeth in a short duration.

Drinking iced coffee when you have Invisalign is not advisable, but you can. You can drink your iced coffee while having them on as long whatever you are drinking is not too hot. You should ensure you brush your teeth and aligners afterward or when you get home. However, drinking dark drinks will stain your teeth and aligners even if we use a straw to prevent the tea, coffee, soda stains, or other beverages that may stain your teeth. As much as you think using straws cannot complete the possibility that the retainer could get inside yours. Before wearing your aligners, ensure that you drink your morning cup of coffee or tea.

Read along to understand some of the important things you need to know if you have Invisalign aligners to ensure that the treatment is safe and takes the required time.

Can I Take Invisalign Out for a Night Out?

Yes, you can take your Invisalign aligners out for an occasion or a special event. There is no need to make any adjustments. However, here are some of the ways  your dentist at Coral Pointe Dental & Orthodontics may recommend to help you take care of your Invisalign aligners on a night out:

  • Get them out. Remember that you are supposed to wear your Invisalign for 20 to 22 hours per day. This means that you must only take them off only for the most critical situations. Then, if you have an event or a special occasion, feel free to take them out and store them properly.
  • Take the Invisalign case with you. Keep the trays in their hard protective cases whenever they are not covering your teeth to avoid mistakenly throwing or destroying them. In addition, damaged aligners may lead to treatment delays, which will cost you additional money and time.
  • Keep drinks at a minimum. You can drink water when your Invisalign is in, but anything else will be too abrasive or plastic. Furthermore, the bacteria from the drinks may e caught between the trays and your tooth’s enamel, causing tooth decay. Before you drink the alcohol, take out your Invisalign aligners and make it a light one. When you put them back, the pigments in black beer and white may transfer to your aligners. Drinking white one or any other clear drinks may avoid this.
  • Have a glass of water in hand. Drinking water instead of alcohol throughout the night will allow you to enjoy your evening without having to remove your aligners.

Is It Ok Not to Wear Invisalign for a Day?

One of the benefits of Invisalign treatment compared to traditional braces treatment is that the Invisalign trays can be removed. This enables you to enjoy your food without restrictions and makes it easier to maintain good oral hygiene. Therefore, it is recommended that you wear your Invisalign treatment for at least 20 hours per day. Forgetting to wear your Invisalign aligners can affect the treatment period. Your dentist in Gilbert, AZ, will advise against wearing your aligners for a day, as missing a day of Invisalign can affect your treatment progress.

Some of the risks that you may experience when you skip wearing your Invisalign aligners for a day include:

  • Your teeth may move back to their incorrect position. Your progress towards your smile may go to waste if you fail to wear the aligners for longer, like a full day.
  • The treatment will get prolonged. The results and completion time of the Invisalign are based on how long you wear them throughout the day. So if you do not wear the aligners for a day, your treatment will be prolonged.
  • You may have to go back to your previous aligners. It is also possible for your current aligner to fail to fit if not worn for the recommended duration. Thus you may need to return to your old aligners or get a new Invisalign at Gilbert. This may halt your progress considerably.
